Morning Sherb 1/10/25

We picked the wrong day to sleep in a bit as it was a beautiful morning in the valley. Alpenglow graced the Eastern Slopes as we made our way up into the notch and towards the wind awaiting us. Pockets of powder was the theme of the day today as per usual it is a mixed bag of conditions out there.

Soft wind drifted snow can be found on the trail especially higher up however the majority of the trail is firm and fast. Be careful on the lower pitches as some soft and fluffy snow is covering large patches of glare ice (see below). Visibility is great and we could see into the Ravine and other areas above. The headwall contained large areas of wind affected snow; lines such as Chute and Left seem to be filling in.

As our turnaround point was Hermit Lake we could not asses snow conditions up close and personal but the bowl appears to be recovering nicely from this last round of rough weather. Looks like a dusting is on its way over the weekend and with cold temps sticking around for a while the accumulating snow isn't going anywhere.

Bypassing some thin cover heading up the Sherburne Ski Trail

A better stretch with some nice and soft snow

Blue skies granted us an excellent view into Tuckerman Ravine

Boott Spur ridge from the same vantage point

A section of dust on glare ice towards the bottom - be careful rounding those corners

Bonus shot of Dodge's Drop - not quite filled in through the choke
