In a weird moment of deja vu, I jumped out of bed at 3am. I packed both ski poles and headed out the door. A good amount of faffing later, we headed up the Tuckerman Ravine Trail a little before 5am.
We made good work and got into Huntington Ravine. The colors in the sky were already putting on a show. We booted up in the Fan and began the slog up to North Gully (WI3, Steep Snow, 500ft). Having put the boot pack in yesterday, we blitz the lower section. We made it over the ice step, and the sky was on fire behind us. Snapping the classic diving board shot, we had the best light show I have had in awhile. The colors, partners and conditions all lined up.
After topping out we traversed over for my buddy, Keenan's, first turns in Huntington. We skied a chalky and fun Escape Hatch. We skied over to the bottom of the Fan. We set our eyes on Yale Gully (WI2, Steep Snow, 1000ft) and blasted up.
Enjoying the sun on our backs, we got supportive snow and easy swings the whole way up. Keenan, continued onto the summit and Tyler and I headed over to Diagonal.
Tyler styled it all the way down and I took the ski mountaineer approach and enjoy slow and control turns. The Fan was amazing chalk snow. What a morning!!!!
