White Mountain Bounty

We're incentivizing racing the premiere routes in the White Mountains and want to reward those trailrunners who continue to raise the ceiling of what's possible in our terrain.

The concept is simple: We have an annual budget of $10,000 and as bounties are claimed, they reset back to the base amount of $500. If the bounty isn't claimed, it carries over to the next year meaning the value of certain routes will increase the older the FKT is.

We're working on leaderboards for the T10 all-time for each of the above FKTs. 2nd: $200, 3rd: $150, 4th: $100, 5th - 10th: $50

Bounty Rules & FAQs

  • What happens when an FKT has been set? The bounty for the route will reset to $500 and increase the subsequent year. This incentivizes attempts on other routes post-FKT.
  • What if I already have the route FKT? If you reset your own FKT, you are not eligible for the bounty.
  • Top 10: We are building out T10 leaderboards based on Strava / FKT data. There are likely efforts that are not listed on either database but will not be considered unless submitted / made public.
  • Verification: All FKT claims require GPS data (Strava or Garmin upload) and must follow the exact route as defined on FKT.com.
  • Support classification: Must match the attempt category (unsupported means only water from huts/established sources). All routes must be announced in advance.
  • Bounty payment: Cash is awarded to the FKT holder for the calendar year. Winter conditions are not in play for the bounty. If no one claims a bounty, it rolls over and increases the following year.
  • Annual cap: Total payouts cannot exceed $10,000 in a single summer.
  • Disputes: Any route variant or timing questions will be studied.
