Maple Villa Glade - 2/18/25
Feb 18, 2025
With arctic temps and even more insane wind chills forecasted in the Notch, Gabe and I decided to check out Maple Villa to see how it is holding up. Spoiler alert, it was still quite cold and windy. Leaving a calm and sunny parking lot, we made our way up the access trail into the East Zone at the far end of the glade. Winds increased and temps dropped as we gained elevation but spirits remained intact.
There is a considerable amount of debris on the ground after the last few days of high winds but no major trail obstructions were observed. We skied down East Branch and were met with a mixed bag of conditions. The higher section was more wind effected and crusty while pockets of soft snow existed lower down in more sheltered areas.
I was more interested in observing the coverage at lower elevation that getting some good skiing in so the morning mission was a success in my book. Some exposed rocks up high but overall there is a solid base top to bottom. Water bars on the runout trail were mostly filled in and I only saw a handful of sharks. Things are shaping up nicely for the next storm...

Slight equipment failure on the way up - still all smiles though!
