Sherb / Tuckerman Ravine 11/29/24

Trail: Sherburne to Tuckerman Ravine

Notes: 12" of snow on the Sherburne made for a slow skin to Hermit Lake. There were a few blowdowns to navigate and while the skiing was fun, we did hit several rocks so use caution, especially as it gets skied up throughout the weekend. Tuckerman Ravine was very windy, a snowboarder triggered a pocket slab in Chicken Rock Gully (below Sluice). We skied a small pocket looker's right of Chute in fun spindrift slab.

Beta: Today things really felt like winter kicked off. With very little base on the sherb, use caution, especially closer to the bottom. Left Gully was the most filled in line but with active loading (and it's always in the shade early season), we opted for a more protected run.

You know you're working when you have to set a skinner up the Sherburne.

Debris at the base of Chicken Rock Gully.

Skinning over to the objective.
