We started from the parking lot straight up the Sherb and quickly crossed over to the TRT. Skinning from the car in mid-November is a gift. We enjoyed fine skinning conditions all the way to Howard Johnson's Cabin. Cold, humid, windy weather paired with freezing rain greeted us at HoJo's.
We were able to continue skinning up the TRT to the base of Tuckerman Ravine, with grippy, blowing snow for the last mile. Severely limited visibility stopped us at the base. We were simply titillated to be there, and this feeling was only enhanced by the coverage that allowed us to ski from the base of Tuckerman Ravine back to Howard Johnson's Cabin.
Our efforts were rewarded with a pleasurable ski down the John Sherburne Ski Trail (formerly "The Sherb"). Conditions were mint on the top half and became progressively bonier toward the bottom. No walking required, though. Here's hoping the snow holds!
