Winter is back. Today was just a quick look into the gullies from Hermit Lake. The refresh of snow has covered most of the refrozen crust in Tuckerman Ravine, Hillman's, and Dodge's. The Snowfields also looked very nice. I was unable to check snow stability but we should have more info later this afternoon. The Sherb was skiing top to the last pitch which I walked down.

The long range forecast is looking promising with more snow and mixed precip on the way. The Blended Weather Model is worth bookmarking.

  • Wow Bob, you must be an excellent grass skier after all those years ripping the bare nether regions of the Sherb! I’m sure Andrew was observing the crossovers set by the rangers where the snow runs out. A lot has changed since the 70s. Spring comes fast nowadays and it’s important to mitigate against trail erosion, even if your sheer determination can ski you to your car.

  • Walking? Sounds like you need to learn how to ski better. I’ve been skiing tuckermans ravine since the early 70s in high school and never walked anything.
