What could possess ATK to make a new binding just to drop 30 grams out of their flagship ski-touring binding, the Raider? Nothing but good old-fashioned detail-oriented perfectionism, of course. Nothing is ever perfect, but with the introduction of the C-Raider, the ATK binding lineup is one step closer, with a binding that sits between the touring-oriented Crest and RT and the freeride-oriented Raider. Two critical changes allowed ATK to lighten up the C-Raider and simplify its usage: composite materials and a redesigned, wider toe piece. The ATK engineers are aluminum-machining experts, but they know the weight benefits of carbon as well, and they used carbon composites to their advantage in designing a more race-style, lighter toe piece for the C-Raider. The toe piece is simpler, with a traditional locking mechanism compared with the Uphill Hardness Variator on the Raider and Freeraider, and has a wider mounting platform to increase boot-to ski-power transfer. Simple, bombproof design just got that much simpler and closer to perfection.

The new toe piece, made out with 30% carbon reinforced composite, represents a considerable news for ATK: the material performance (weight/stiffness ratio) and the innovative structural design, leaded to a weight reduction (compared to the R12 toe piece, still with more simple locking system ), boosting performances and stability
at their maximum (compared to the speed touring toe pieces range, still considering around 10gr more in weight).
