Atomic Backland 101 Women's Ski - 2027

Atomic Backland 101 W

For skiers looking to get a little deeper into the backcountry without sacrificing downhill performance, the Atomic Backland 101 W is a great all-around touring option. At 101mm underfoot, it has enough width to float in fresh snow while staying versatile when things get tracked out, chopped up, or a little firmer than expected. It’s a nice middle ground for big days in the mountains when you want a lightweight setup that can still handle the fun stuff on the way down.

Atomic’s FreeTour Profile combines a poplar and caruba Ultra Light Woodcore with a construction that uses less fiberglass, metal, and resin to keep weight down while maintaining a solid feel underfoot. The HRZN 3D tip adds surface area for better float in deeper snow, while the Powder Rocker profile pairs tip and tail rocker with camber underfoot for a playful, easy-to-maneuver feel in powder, crud, and chop.

At around 1,260g per ski in the 164cm length, the Backland 101 W keeps things light on the skin track without feeling like it’s giving up too much on the descent. Dura Cap Sidewalls help with edge grip and durability, while the directional shape provides a more predictable, stable feel when you’re linking turns on firmer snow.

Atomic has also reworked the construction to use more wood and fewer higher-impact materials, reducing material-related CO₂-equivalent emissions by 26% compared with the 2022 Backland 100.

A great choice for touring days that might start with a long climb and end with fresh turns, the Backland 101 W offers a nice balance of uphill efficiency, powder performance, and versatility for exploring beyond the resort.
