Rainy Day Reflection

As the rain soaks into the dirt and greases up the rocks and roots we’re taking some time to reflect on the season thus far. Some top notch riding, drool worthy custom builds, and few new projects have been keeping us busy since moving into the new location.

                        ------------------------------------------------

Lets talk about some riding and the conditions first!

Santa Cruz eMTB's have been our weapon of choice lately to maximize riding after closing down for the day. This past week we've been figuring out the best way to maximize vert for a fairly quick hour and half ride. The frequent rains have helped keep the dirt really nice and shredable. Charlie's is all-time good. The Ride NOCO crew did a really good job shaping up the berms and getting everything packed in nicely. Catch it a day or two after a light rain and you're in for a real treat. Red Tail and Hurricane are riding exceptional with a few soft spots here and there. Don't be scared to give it a little extra juice, the support is there in those corners. Sendero is still rolling faster than ever. You may know us for our loyalty to Continental (We still love them) but, the Schwalbe radial tires on the eMTB's have really allowed us to open it up through the fast rooty sections and chundery rocks. The super supple casing and extra volume really inspire confidence when pointing a full powered e-bike through tight lines and corners.

Dont forget about Ride NOCO's Welcome Back Party coming up on Saturday, June 7th! Secure yourself a rental and join in on the fun. They will be providing shuttle laps, meeting at the Arlberg lot at Cranmore, from 2-4pm. Apres will follow a day full of riding at Saco River Brewing from 5-7:00pm. Ride the Whites will be around with some stuff to check out throughout the day and a few choice bikes to show while enjoying a post ride pint.

Thursday night gravel rides are back! This past Thursday kicked off our weekly gravel rides up town hall road starting at Ledge Brewing. Come hop in and ride with friends old and new. The out and back route accommodates riders of all ability. Throw down some power or take in the scenery. Wheels start rolling at 5:30 pm.

Looking for a big race to have on the calendar this year? Check out the Summer Race Series. New to the calendar this year is the Livermore Challenge. A Challenging point to point race comprised of gravel, singletrack, and some pavement highlighting some of the more remote offerings in the area.

                          -----------------------------------------------

We received a lot of responses to our recent survey. We really appreciate it! Building a strong community for all of us requires input from everybody. This really helps steer us and provide what people want most. Let's address some of it below! If you haven't filled it out, please consider doing so here

-Weekly group rides: We're currently settling on a day of the week and style to offer. Stay tuned for an announcement soon! Follow us on instagram at @Ridethewhites to keep up to date.

-Skills clinics: A lot of people want this and thats awesome! The best part of riding is that its a lifelong endeavor and we all have different goals. This is something we're absolutely looking into and hoping to bring to you soon!

-Hike-a-bike information: Some of the best riding in the state is in our bigger mountains. Offering the peace of the backcountry, some spectacular views, and world class riding, we are truly grateful every time we shoulder our bikes up a trail. We're currently working on some projects to shed light on where the best riding is and how to go about it. A few tricks of the trade goes a long way when you're putting so much energy into one descent! Stay tuned. This is something we are really excited about.

-Trail maps and routes:

    - Our good friends over at White Mountains NEMBA have some really good resources for trails in the valley. Check out the valley wide map and print one out for yourself to have a hard copy. It paints a really good picture of the valley as a whole.

   - Trailforks is an excellent tool for navigating while on the bike and planning a ride. Tons of people have been asking for some routes and we realize that there are certain ways to piece together rides that can dramatically improve the experience. We're currently putting together some routes that can be viewed on trailforks or sent to a bike computer. Once we have a number of routes for multiple skill levels we will compile them in one location. The best option to get beta or recommendations? Swing on by the shop!

                        ---------------------------------------------

Here's some our favorite bike videos to keep you occupied while things dry out.

Joe Barnes - THE RARE FOLK

Brage Vestavik - Lost Wisdom

                       ----------------------------------------------

Last but not least! Feast your eyes on some of the bikes that have already left the shop this spring.
