5,000 feet of Gulf of Slides 1/06/2025
Jan 06, 2025
Today was a perfect example of you don't know until you go. With high winds the past few days and lackluster obs reports, our group headed up to Gulf of Slides with little hope. With a bluebird day on tap, we hiked up through a destroyed Gulf of Slides Ski Trail. The ski trail was extremely low tide with many exposed rocks, water bars, downed trees and firm snow. Upon arrival to the base of the Main Gully, we busted out into the warmth of the sun and our frowns quickly changed to smiles. Edgeable wind board, with softer snow hidden in the trees/sides of the slide. Hooting and hollering we enjoyed multiple laps in Main Gully and Gully #2. Some days you go up and its 100mph winds and wind scoured snow...some days you go up and score the turns of the season. You just don't know, until you go.
Not fun skiing.
