Chicken Rock/ Open Book - 12/14/24

Some might say it was not worth... but I think it is always worth it. Brent and I took the long (icy) walk up to the bowl. With hopes of a partial undercast in the observation weather report we set off in the dark. The Sherbie was covered all the way to the bottom so skinning was the call. Arriving in the bowl we saw very firm snow with pockets of windslab on top. A full sunrise greeted us and warmed our cold hands. Brent skied a very slick and variable chicken rock and I took a couple laps up Open Book. It is a mandatory walk in and out of the bowl due to all the sharks poking up. The Sherbie was firm and fast....but watch out for the water bars!!!!!

Brent attempting to skin into the bowl.

Coverage looks very good after a rain event.

Brent finding the best turn of the morning.

Skiable....some might say

Do not show this to my mom!!
