Doublehead Ski Trail - 2/8/25

After receiving a few phone calls regarding snow conditions at lower elevation spots I figured I would go take a look for myself. It was a pleasant morning out there with moderate temps and a slight breeze. I was surprised to see that the trail had been well trafficked since the last storm. There is a solid base from top to bottom although there are a few sharks poking through still.

Given the cold winter we have been having the middle third of the trail is well frozen and water bars are easily passable and snow bridged over. This section of the trail typically has a significant amount of standing water so it was nice to see it filled in smoothly. Snow was a mix of packed powder with some wind textured snow up high and a few little pockets of powder still out there. The top was nice however the trail will ski quite fast until the next snowfall.

LSS Update: A solid bunch are still out there giving it their all after the 24 hour mark. Live results can be found here.

A lower section of the trail not too far from the parking lot

In the middle third of the trail - the most open water I saw all morning

A higher pitch of the trail looking up - some fresh snow on the sides but mostly tracked

Looking out with Cranmore in the background
