Doubling Down in Diagonal - 12/17/25

Our morning began with a skin up and into Huntington Ravine. We were treated to a heavenly alpine glow and surprisingly warm breezes. The Huntington Ravine fire road was quite filled in and made for efficient and easy skinning all the way to the fan. Once we got above treeline we caught up with some friends and all booted up together. Significant snow accumulation allowed for relatively simple navigation around Harvard bulge compared to past attempts. The chute was filled with wind affected and variable but mostly soft snow. We transitioned to skis just below the rollover as it was visibly firm above.

I took the first drop scoring some great turns in the chute. Brigham followed and crushed some beautiful turns in between the narrow rock walls. There was some sluff to mitigate but minimal. With smiles, we ran back up to ski it again. The second lap made for easier and smoother skiing after we kicked away the rough patches. Wanting to avoid the exit out of Huntington we opted to ascend Diagonal once more, as we climbed the blue skies gave way to a classic Mount Washington whiteout.

After a brisk and windy walk across the alpine garden we made it to the top of Right Gully. We skied Right Gully one by one, Brigham dropped first finding soft turns on a chalky base. By the time we descended through the bowl the clouds had fully obscured our visibility. The Sherb skied well all the way to the car; although the snow was a bit sticky.
