Hillmans Highway 1/17/25

We began our skin under the bright moon as we made our way to Hojos. It was a cold, clear, and quiet morning. The alpine glow began showing itself off as we transitioned to put skis on our backs. We booted up through variable sections ranging from firm snow, wind scour, to unconsolidated wind slabs. We topped out after splitting to the right variation of the Y. The sun began peering over Boot Spur as we dropped in.

Descending, the top third featured good snow in the sun with plentiful cover. Leaving the couloir, we were faced with firmer snow and more brush. Skiers left featured grabby but powdery slabs that made for slow and fun turns. The soft snow continued to the crux where it transitioned to wind scour hardboard. The John Sherburne ski trail has firmed up in the past few days with more rocks present in the last few pitches.
