Pinnacle Gully to Right Gully - 1/17/25
Jan 17, 2025
The forecast calling for clear skis and low winds, a plan was hatched to try and ski the crown jewel link up in the Whites, Pinnacle to Diagonal. Setting off at a brisk pace this morning we hurried into Huntington Ravine. The boulder field and lower fan are in bad shape. Rocks with man eating post holes, it was brutal getting to the base. We enjoyed good sticks and plastic ice on Pinnacle Gully (WI3 500 ft). The first pitch clocking in at W12+ or WI3 depending on your line of attack. After that it backed off to more WI2 conditions with plastic ice to the top.Â
Diagonal appeared to have a blue ice down climb through the choke and with a horrible ski out the fan, we ran over to ski out Right Gully. Enjoying soft turns on supportable wind slab we skied out to the Sherb and had a blast ripping around.
When Mt. Washington allows you the chance to go after these big objectives, it is a beautiful experience. A morning of beautiful movement in a beautiful place is always a good time. (And still getting to work on time!!!!)Â
Some say an alpine glow.Â
