Left Gully - 11/09/25

Guest Blog by Luke Stetson & Adam Giroux

Headed out today with low expectations and ended up having an awesome day. We hiked up the Tuckerman Ravine Trail and then to the Sherburne at the third entrance. It was our first day out so we were instantly stoked just putting the skis/splitboards on.

The loose plan was to walk up to the bowl, check conditions, and maybe ski something—no pressure. We spotted one party climbing Left Gully and another heading up the bottom of Chute. Multiple groups reported top-to-bottom skiing in Left Gully, which seems to be the only full line in right now. We ended up knocking out a few fun laps in Lower Chute before calling it.

It was lightly snowing at Pinkham Notch and continued until around 1:00 p.m., when it shifted to a wintry mix. The base felt solid with some underlying ice, but the heavier snow on top made for surprisingly enjoyable turns.

The Sherb was actually much better than expected. There were a few water crossings, but nothing too sketchy. It was definitely rocky, but as the afternoon warmed and a few groups scraped through ahead of us, most of the hazards became visible. The warmer temperatures also made the snow thick and kept skis/snowboards from sinking.

The Sherb skied almost all the way to the parking lot—depending on how much you like your skis or board. Shoutout to Francis, the only one in our group who managed to ski from the top to the lot without taking his skis off.

Overall, the crew was fired up and it was a great start to the season. Can't complain if you're skiing in early November.
