Main Gully - Gulf of Slides - 2/1/25

Another round of fresh snow overnight made the 4AM alarm a tad easier to stomach this morning. The crew met in a snowy and windless Pinkham parking lot, discussed our options, and chose to make our way up the Gulf of Slides Trail toward Main Gully. It was a pleasant and relatively warm skin up with no wind until the end of the GOS Ski Trail proper.

We shuffled across to Main Gully, assessed the snow, and transitioned to booting up. Luckily there was no wallowing this time around as we encountered a uniform layer of unconsolidated snow atop a 4F supportive layer. As the day goes on and winds ramp up I'd expect slabs to form in more sheltered terrain features.

Due to time constraints I had to turn around about half way up Main, transitioned as the sun poked through and enjoyed a few powder snow turns. The rest of the crew is still out there, searching for the next untouched stash...

My turnaround point for the day - took a quick moment to soak up the sun before dropping in!

Enjoying a peaceful moment on the ride back down
