Powder Hunting 2/7/25

Powder Hunting 2/7/25

The yews and woos echoed through the Notch this morning after Mother Nature delivered yesterday, though the night, and into this morning. Adam and Spencer set the skinner up GOS and I followed in their tracks making my way up the trail. The two of them ventured into the Sandbox while my turnaround point was the top of the Gulf of Slides Ski Trail.

The trail is in excellent shape with most of the bony sections from last week being fully if not mostly covered. A generous 6-8" blanketed the trail and being the first one back down was certainly a treat. Once back down at the base of the trail I headed up the TRT and poked around a bit in the woods and the Sherb. Another great morning searching for little untouched pockets of powder!

Spencer: We skinned up to the crown line of the Sandbox area in Gulf of Slides. The visibility was quite poor but the wonderful skiing made up for it. We skied down the slide and had a tight tree ski back to the main Gulf of Slides trail. We enjoyed soft turns and fresh tracks the whole way down. Do not forget your goggles as I did, the upslope snow made me ski blind for about 80% of the way down. A good plug for our branded goggles with clear lenses.

P.S. - Our flagship event, Last Skier Standing, kicked off this morning at 10AM up at Black Mountain of Maine. Big shoutout to Norrona for sponsoring this event, it's sure to be a fun time! Best of luck to the 140 participants toeing the line. Live tracking can be found here.
