Summit Hunnies 4/14/25
Apr 14, 2025
Young Brigham and Young Gabe's big day out! The sky was clear and the winds strong as we set out from Pinkham. We meandered our way up and as we approached Hermit Lake, temps were rising and the wind dissipating. As we crested over the final climb into the ravine, I saw skiers dropping over Icefall. I knew it was going to be a classic Tucks day. Our first lap, Brigham and set a boot pack up Chute. We respectfully split and skied corn through the headwall and Variation North. Eyeing up the icefall I knew it was my time. We joined the conga line in Lip and transitioned to skis. I made my way over, made some sloppy hop turns but lined up the smaller drop. A rush of adrenaline hit and I ripped through the debris with a big smile. We wanted a summit, so we began our quest. The final climb was long but eventually the summit sign was in our hands. Lucking out, we skied 50 ft from the summit and traversed to the Eastern Snowfields. Buddy skiing, we ripped through the corn and headed back to Tuckerman Ravine. This time we crushed the lip, and exited out through Little Headwall. There was open water and tight trees to watch for. Continuing, we made a slow and sticky descent of the Sherb. The moguls are growing and making for a fun descent. We had to remove our skis significantly higher than the past few days due to the dramatic warming today. All in all it was a wonderful day to be in the alpine with good company.
