The Highest Tree in New England - 4/24/25

Our group of three, wearing trail runners, started up the Tuckerman Ravine Trail at 6am this morning. We quickly moved into the bowl, never putting on skins. We transitioned in the Bowl to boots and crampons... some higher up the bootpack then others.. cough Andrew cough We switched back to trail runners for the final summit push. We passed the highest tree in New England which sits roughly at 6,177 feet. It stands small, but proud.

We summited and nervously made out way to the snowfields. The sun was not out and the wind was picking up. The snow had yet to corn. Suddenly, the sun came out and quickly turned the snow to corn. We clicked in and ripped down the snowfields. We did a quick mini lap up the snowfields again before we skied over to Chute.

Chute skied great, bumps and runnels with forming in the main line and the variations looked like better skiing. As Andrew skied down Center headwall it looked the best snow, smooth and corn. After some shenanigans to get out of the bowl we "skied" the Sherb past the emergence catche. We swapped again to trail runners and made it back to work on time..... or some might say.

The Highest Tree in the land.

Good climbers can't ski and good skiers can't climb.

Post ski Cutler dips are in.
