Utah Conditions in Gulf of Slides - 2/10/25
Feb 10, 2025
This morning, we made our way into the Sandbox to ski some lower angle powder. We took the GOS ski trail up to the main slide. Towards the bottom of the slide, we cut off to the left into the snowfields. The snowfields opened up after a quick trip through the forest. Brigham and I skinned up about 500 ft and transitioned under a very cloudy sky. Occasionally, the sun peaked out for a few minutes.
Dropping in, we were blown away by the depth and lightness of the snow. We took four laps before ripping down the Gulf of slides ski trail. We saw some cracking in the snow on a NE aspect but it was not observed elsewhere. The longer we were out, the more snow that was blowing around and obscuring our visibility.
