Digging Pits in Huntington Ravine - 2/10/25

Another Monday filled with hope and promise. Adam and I toured into Huntington with hopes of linking a few gullies together for a ski/climb mission. Approaching the base of the Huntington Ravine, we were slammed in the face by the wind. Not wanting to waste the effort we pressed on hoping for a clearing. We dug a snow bench and attempted to hide from the wind. We booted up, with the help of some ascent plates, a couple hundred feet up only to be met with shooting cracks and signs of instability in the snow. We switched into ski mode and enjoyed some mellow POW turns out of Huntington. After a quick transition, we set our sights on the Little Headwall (inbetween HOJO's and the base of Tuckerman Ravine.) After Adam almost fell into an open water hole, we quickly abandon that mission for the Sherburne Ski Trail..... if only we were't ice climbers and could have join the crew in the Sandbox.

No hiding from the wind.

Our high point, roughly were the base of Pinnacle Gully is.

Ski mountaineer.
