Cog Railway 12/6/24
Dec 06, 2024
Above: Caleb Sharp & Chris Wilke setting the skinner up the Cog at dawn
Trail: Cog Railway to roughly 4400'
Notes: The crew was smiling ear to ear this morning after scoring first tracks down the Cog. The base on the West side keeps building but strong W winds made for some scratchy spots. Luckily these were complimented by deep powder drifts which made it tricky to provide an accurate snow total. Low visibility and blowing snow prevented us from getting eyes on any nearby terrain.
Beta: As snow keeps accumulating it may be time to expand horizons into some different zones that typically need a bit more to fill in. Be safe if you are planning to venture into more complex terrain, be sure to check out the MWAC general bulletin here before you head out. Cold temps will linger through tomorrow but winds will die down as the weekend progresses. We are tracking some mixed precipitation next week so get after it while you can!
