Hillmans Highway 12/28/24
Dec 28, 2024
I have never seen a sunrise on Mt Washington that I did not like! Leaving the empty parking lot, I had low expectations of skiing in the alpine this morning. We took to Hillmans as that would get me back to work for a 9am opening. As we skinned higher and higher a temperature inversion welcomed us. We booted up near the base of the line and took a warm up lap in the early morning glow. The snow was soft and creamy at the bottom of the run. A couple tight choke points in the middle of the run made for some techy turns. As the light filled the rest of the line we pushed towards the top of the lookers left side of the line. Transitioning right below the top out, as it had become wind affected and the skiers right entrance to the line was icy bed surface from the avalanche early in the week. The turns on the skiers right snow were soft and dry at the top and soft and warmer towards the bottom. The Sherb was fun fast and filled in!!!!Â

Booter SaturdayÂ
Near the top of the line. We saw a steep chute that provided fun, slightly grabby turns. Photo: Adam Bidwell
