Tuckerman Ravine 12/27/24

Well today started off promising, warmer than yesterday and forecast called for light winds with warming temps. Not much new to report but there were many people getting out to capitalize on the conditions before things really warmed up. I decided to check out The Lip and see if I could find some good skiing. Sadly it was all punchy and not easy to link up turns. As with yesterday, it got progressively better as I descended to the floor of the ravine. Right Gully looked bad as well. Lower Chute / Left Gully / Headwall all hold the best skiing at the moment in Tuckerman Ravine. One skier reported Gulf of Slides had similar conditions as Tucks. I did find an iPhone on the Sherburne trail so if you lost that, it's at the Visitor's Center.

Sunrise in Tuckerman Ravine. It was a calm morning but the winds did start to pick up as we approached the floor.

Setting the booter up The Lip.

Transition point - the sun crust was a concern as it was 'dinner plating' and I had to sidestep down this section to avoid sliding out.

Slowly picked my way down as seen in the tracks.
