Mount Washington 12/26/24
Dec 26, 2024
Happy Boxing Day! It was a beautiful morning on the mountain with a temperature inversion and no winds. I booted up right gully which was definitely affected by the sun yesterday. The good news is it has snow up to the top now but it's chunky and probably not worth skiing at the moment. The snowfields are in great shape but are punchy and hard to find a rhythm. After a quick peek into the Great Gulf (pipeline and airplane look great from afar). I skied off the summit and headed over to the headwall. The Chute looked good but a thin wind slab gave way to very firm ice. It wasn't a great choice, the snow from the choke downward was excellent though. Lots of good skiing to be had but it's not exactly top to bottom.Â
