Summit Fever - 1/23/2025
Jan 23, 2025
Armed with hardshells and puffy pants, Brent and I took to the slopes in hope of touching the summit sign. A calm parking lot welcomed us. Arriving in the bowl, the wind started to pick up and we added our first layer. Booting up Right Gully, the snow felt supportive and chalky. Higher up in Right Gully, the snow become a bit punchy but nothing gave us any red flags. We topped out and started the summit slog. The summit was breezy and a balmy -32. Adding our final layers we crossed our (numb) fingers that the snowfields would be edge-able. As we turned the corner we saw the snowfields had been ripped of any snow soft from the winds. We were forced to do some walking downhill to start our ski. Crossing over into Right Gully the skiing was fun and a but techy at the top. We enjoyed good turns in the lower half of Right Gully and into Chicken Rock Gully. More mountaineering then skiing... but still a good time.
Not wanting to lose any fingers... here is the only ski photo I could nab.Â
